Reminisce

I look back at my past and I feel like I could have done better. This time round, I feel like I really do have the chance to make it happen. So, no more excuses :)

I remember back when I was younger my dad used to drive me around and while doing so, ask me to identify all the different trees we see. Coconut, palm, durian, mango and other random ones haha. I remember it was so easy then, to tell things apart. I was 6.

20 years on, I still wish that my dad will be around to help me differentiate things. This time more difficult than trees.

I ♥ Polaroids!

leave a comment »

These are taken during an event promoting disposable contact lenses that literally make your eyes (or rather, your pupils) look bigger. Haha so if you are seeking something that will enhance your eyes without looking too OTT, it can be an option for you :) I personally like it, I am a shameless vainpot. In fact I am hardly seen in my specs because I think I look silly in it.

I personally think that nothing can be compared to polaroids when we talk about the picture taking experience. There is something about the fact that it is one-off and it comes with an element of surprise as you wait for your silhouette to surface.  Unlike film, no two of it are ever the same :) So to me, polaroids are here to stay, despite the new wave of digital photography coming at us at record speed. I definitely should buy one and snap away happily….

Edit: One more photo of the girls!

Sorry guys no time to blog at all,

I’ve got 3 hours of transformation from a “flik flak angmo” to a “ching cheong chinaman” and vice versa tomorrow. After that, we will talk! :)

Oh, on a terrible turn of events… I have to say: Fuck statistics. I hate them!

Crazy Week Ahead!

Thanks to the divine powers that be, I’ve gotten some really good job opportunities in the areas that I am interested in. I cannot express enough my gratitude. I had been fearful that I might not get the opportunity to try, ever. But God listened, and gave me a chance. :)

I don’t know the outcome yet, so let’s just keep our fingers crossed!

On a totally irrelevant note, I was invited to Cafe Iguana to celebrate Cinco de Mayo with Tang and Kim. It’s some Mexican holiday to celebrate their patriotism, and guests were encouraged to dressed up as Mexican as they wanna be and have fun! Well I went as myself since I had to go off early somewhere else, but I did have fun catching up with friends over frozen margaritas and having tequila from an ice sculpture. (note to self, tequila = headaches!) Too bad I didn’t have photos! My ex-colleagues are always so encouraging and supportive of me, I feel so loved! Will update more when I have news, don’t wanna jinx anything by talking about it too early, wahaha!

Late night / Early morning Musings

Find it hard to sleep without writing down my thoughts: (They can be a bit disconnected and disorganised. Bear with me.)

Hope can be a dangerous thing. Contrary to popular belief, some people can hope too much. The sorry fact of life is that sometimes no matter how hard you try or want it, you might not be able to fix that broken radio. In the end, this pill of happy possibilities you feed yourself everyday will land up killing you.

My strategy: stop hoping. Start living. Enjoy the moment and not think about what will happen or rather what you hope will happen. Enjoy the element of surprise in every step. It might be good, or bad; and it will be fine. No?

********

I must stop learning things the hard way. It’s killing me slowly. I always try but my heart gets in the way. Maybe what my friend said is true, I need to put my heart in the freezer. I quote her, “Do not be so soft. You are killing yourself.” Haha, and I thought I’m a tough cookie, apparently I am muah-chee*. Maybe I need to toughen up. Like the Bride from Kill Bill. Wake up from a coma and still be able to slaughter half of mankind.

*some sticky gooey glutinous rice dessert

ah… whatever. shall go sleep.

Audi Fashion Festival – Machesa

leave a comment »

I went to my first fashion show today! :) Have to thank partner in crime dot and also dk for the favour! It was a great experience and I enjoyed myself very much talking and meeting new people. I am not very well learned about fashion so please take my humble comments with a pinch of salt. The collection is very glamourous, girly and I think many of the pieces are  flattering and wearable. If the opportunity ever presents itself, I would love to go to a Marc Jacobs or Bottega Veneta show. I lurvvvve them! Once again, thank you to everyone who made my night enjoyable !

What I wore today:

Grey Sweater; Black Camisole; Black Tulip Skirt; Nude Gladiator Heels; Nude doctor bag (not in pic.). Special mention to my grey sweater who got many compliments from it’s back-story.

I wanted to go with something that wouldn’t go wrong since it is a fashion event after all. I always try to be on the safe side when in doubt. (I have no idea what people wear to events like this, haha.) The details on my skirt didn’t show in the picture, it has a geometric print on it. I love details. They make all the difference!

Anyway, I finally got my hair done after dragging my feet for the longest time. I must have forgotten what I said about trying to keep my hair long, since I cut it shorter again. But this time I opted for a cut that suits me more and coloured it copper. I like how it looks on me, my hairstylist is great… A good haircut can save your life. He saved mine today.

你,聽見了嗎?

Woke up in the middle of the night and I couldn’t get back to sleep. Decided to look for this song in my head. I like this song. I caught it on cable and with the help of google managed to find it. There’s a particular verse which is pretty well written: 想念是泪水的重量. These people write beautifully… I can write in Chinese but I am hardly the literary kind so I especially appreciate when people can.
