Hi everyone! I’m in Shanghai now and I miss everybody back at home! I’m like a walking popsicle here because temperatures are from like 0-4 at night and maybe 4-7 in the day. I was pretty excited when I stepped out of the airport and I could see the condensation coming out of my mouth when I’m speaking haha! But the excitement died down when I felt like my fingers are going to fall off and walk home by themselves.

Dot and me are having a great time exploring the city by ourselves and it’s a new adventure everyday we are people who eat ice cream in sub zero weather so we pretty much have no qualms about trying anything haha. We keep making the mistake of getting cold drinks here simply because we are so used to it back home! This store lady thought Dorothy was crazy when she asked if she’s got Coke that’s cold haha.

Can’t wait to update more on the trip. I finally have Internet access but I can’t log on to Twitter in china. I think it’s blocked or something. If not I’ll be able to twit pic all these interesting stuff we see everyday. We’ll update when we are back and now we gotta plan our new year’s eve in Shanghai!

My New Purse!

My new piggy purse from Rockstar by Soon Lee. I love the stuff they sell Bought this because it reminds me of somebody and also because of my love for 烧肉. Hahaha…

Rushing to pack for my trip to Shanghai. My flight is at 9pm and I haven’t done a single thing for my trip! Procrastination will be the death of me. I’m just glad I have a travel partner that is big on being spontaneous and adventurous. Haha.

X’mas was great with a lot of meet ups with friends and family. For everyone else that I didn’t manage to see, let’s meet up after I am back from Shanghai! Buy me dinner, I have a feeling I might come back broke. Hahaha!

I am so grateful for everyone in my life! X’mas is always a good time to give thanks and count my blessings Now, off to meet my wife (@dottietan)!

旧衣服

在最近的半年，我的生活改变了不少。 最值得一提的应该就是自己和许多的朋友在互动中有了更深的认识和了解。

平常，总爱和朋友闲聊，天南地北，无所不谈。。。哈哈！让我增添了不少的乐趣 （也多了几条笑纹！） 二十出头的人，聊来聊去也不外乎是那几件事：工作，爱情，钱财，买东西。 而在这当中，谈得最多的就是爱情。

女人到底，终究还是感情的傀儡。从我的眼中，已经不止一次看见女人为了爱而做的傻事。我自己也是过来人。我明白。但我也从中学到了一点，就是不管怎么难过，日子终究会过去。就如他们说的，时间会冲淡一切。在这个时候，就需要你去爱的，其实是你自己。

我学习到的另一点，就是要舍得放手。抓得那么紧，只会让自己遍体鳞伤。感情到了终点，就像断了线的风筝，抓也抓不回，又何苦？人，最害怕就是承认自己失败。也就是这样，有太多的人还呆在已迈向绝路的感情当中。到最后，其中一方就好像一件很昂贵的旧衣服一样- 款式已经过时了,但是因为买的时候那么贵,又不舍得丢掉. 所以就把它放在衣柜里,有空就翻一翻. 直到衣柜没有空位了,才把它丢了.

其实,真的要到那时候,才不甘愿的放手吗? 有时候,在适当的时候对自己残忍,也是对自己的一种仁慈,一种智慧. 我以前肯定是做不到.但是,长大的好处就是,终于明白什么是苦口良药 现在的我,很快乐.

My next job according to my colleagues

I was just idling during my lunchtime yesterday so I decided to read through the Chinese newspaper to kill some time. As I turn to the classifieds, a wide array of short ads looking for odd job workers were in wide display. Since I was so bored, I was actually reading through them, ahah. My colleagues saw me and shouted:

Wah so fast look for job already ah! I found one very suitable for you!:

For those who don’t know, job #1 refers to an assistant for chicken chopping, literally.

wonder what the career prospects are like. HAHAHHAHA. After being assistant in chopping chickens, maybe I will get to be the main guy of chicken chopping, then I will move on to be the MASTER level of chicken chopping, whereby I supervise everyone chopping chickens. Wow.. The glam and glitz. HAHAHAHHA. Cannot take it. need to apply soon.

Paranormal Activity and Childhood Friends

Scorching hot weather!!! Beer should be our national drink. It should be served in frosted mugs, ice cold. and it must be Raspberry flavoured beer. Like the ones from Kopparberg that is being sold in Charlie’s Corner. Nice…. Hahaha.

I met up with my primary school friends for a random get together and it is just pure fun man. Haha, we even took our IC for another round of ugly face showdown! But the funny thing is, I would have seen them in that state and yet, their photos look so… foreign to me! HAHAHA.

Anyway after dinner we decided to catch a movie together on a whim, and Paranormal Activity was the obvious choice since they only watch ‘horror and comedy’, and there wasn’t a comedy around. So there. I’m not going to do a review or something since I am rushing for time, but it is worth a watch. It isn’t the typical Hollywood flick so manage your expectations, people!

I’m going to disappear somewhere in my blanket for the long weekend, ciao!

Brewerkz

Happy times at Brewerkz! This was taken after work about a month ago? I just got the photos from Dave Hogan, who took them with the original Olympus Pen (still using film haha!) So grateful he managed to dig my photos up and send it over! It is a joy to receive some photos of myself because I don’t exactly take a lot of pictures My hair is pretty short now, so it is a funny feeling looking at my long hair then!

These people just seem to take good photographs with ease! Is it the camera??

Visual Merchandising

About one month ago I was involved in a project to promote a new course in visual merchandising(VM). As part of the project, we wonder about town to take notes so as to understand more about the direction of  VM in Singapore. I remember back when I was 16 I thought VM was the way to go for me. I even took short courses on it. But the tides of life brought me somewhere else, ahah!

I appreciate a good shopfront when I see one. The shopping experience is one that can’t be replaced by online shopping, simply because good VM (and good marketing in that sense) not only sell the product, they sell you a need. A solution you might not even have thought of in the first place.

The above pictures were taken randomly on our field trip out! Most of the stores are in town, and I especially like how Prologue do up their store. It’s almost part art gallery. It’s at ION Orchard should you want to visit. It is really a godsent to see improving standards in VM here. Shopping is almost a national pastime in Singapore so it really helps. Haha. Our new course in VM starts next year and I am excited about it even though I am not taking the course myself. The chief lecturer is a very cool designer dude… ahhaah!

As I start to embark on all these projects, they do give me an idea of what I might want to pursue next in my career. Definitely the creative side if you ask me….
